This
movie is one of a kind. You either love it, or you hate it. I
am in the former category (love it). I saw it on television for the
first time around 1975. It consists of 6 episodes and I tuned in on
episode 3. Watched 4, 5, and 6 on each following night. Then I
went nuts until they (PBS Channel 9) showed it again two weeks
later. Wow! What a show. You need to like the music from
the World War II era. It is prominent in the movie.
I now own the complete set and I watch it
every once in a while. There is always something that I didn't see
in an earlier viewing. Before you buy, ask around at work,
"Have any of you ever seen The Singing Detective?" You are
sure to find someone that will immediately glue themselves to you telling
you why you HAVE to see this movie.
One final note... when the set first came
out on video tapes, I paid over a hundred dollars for it. You're
much luckier than I was. So take advantage and do it.
